At Passion Dental, we offer dentistry under General Anaesthetic
Many patients forgo necessary treatment due to fear of pain or discomfort. We make sure that doesn’t happen to you.
We make each person’s dental experience a calm and stress-free one. However, we are aware that besides all our efforts there are patients that have an ingrained fear and anxiety associated with merely the thought of going to the dentist.
For those patients we offer dentistry under general anaesthetic.
Most dental practices offer Sleep Dentistry also known as IV sedation. During sleep dentistry the patient is still awake but drowsy. At Passion Dental we have found that patients that need to be put under for dental treatment are quite anxious of the treatment being performed and just want it “over and done with” and do not want to feel or see anything.
For this reason we have opted to offer those patients dentistry under General Anaesthetic, which is a lot less stressful and traumatic for patients.
A specialist anaesthetist attends our dental rooms accompanied with a qualified nurse. All anaesthetic equipment necessary for the procedure are present and safety procedures are maintained and followed so that our patients’ safety is the first priority.
We will answer all your questions regarding the procedure but common answers to questions received are:
- You must not eat or drink anything for at least 12 hours prior to the procedure
- You will need somebody to drive you home as you will be unable to do so
- You should allow at least 24 hours of rest after the procedure to ensure that the sedation effects have completely dissipated
